LAURA YOU ARE AMAZING!! KEEP ON DISCOVERY LIFE... WE ARE ALWAYS HERE.

This fun-tastic day took place in the gorgeous city of Denver. It was created for some incredible friends... Liz and Guy thank you so much for this amazing opportunity and for allowing us to share our passion for food and sharing.

Private Chef...Trade of Love

It is amazing how life trades you so much. How life takes you on this crazy adventures where it also asks you the same in return. This is the joy of life for Us. It is a collaboration of energy, a moment of learning from the experience life is offering. One thinks about why people becomes cooks, chefs, etc. Some do it for fame, some because they enjoy the eating, the smelling, some because it is a handy entertainment...the list is long and crazy. I have known chefs who are great people, and other who are just incredible self consumed in their ego, I have seen women, man, and everything in the middle.

But..Why we do it? I believe is because of the Love. The innocent love of keeping our hearts and minds involved in the mystery of imagination and creation, in this so powerful, yet forgotten art. We are only here to play and have fun, it keeps our hearts at peace, and our love vibrant. But the real question is:

Why would you Cook?...

Enjoy this fun pics from the event.

It is an Honor to Help Make Dreams Come True.

Catering a Wedding

There is something very special when you become part of someones dream. In our case we are all about food, all about making that aspect of a wedding ceremony as special as we see it is.

In our new venture around weddings we have realize that food has become something not that important, something like a must do to keep guests happy... obviously this has been our perception so far in Colorado. Well I have to say that in our minds and hearts we are here to help change the faith of food. We want to rescue this lost art and make it again an elemental experience of a wedding.

Catering at the Mish

Thanks to Taylor Strope, owner of Mountainside Events who contacted us to to help out with this incredible opportunity. The entire development of this wedding was something new to us, and that is what we look forward every time we venture into a new food adventure.

The wedding was a success, 120 guests has their tastebuds completely satisfied and smiles where everywhere!! it was a beautiful day and one that it will go for the memories of many for a long long time.

Thank you all for a great opportunity.

EAT+DRINK Secret Supper New Years Eve 2016

MAGICAL THINGS DID HAPPEN

An epic story on how we got to be part New Years Eve Eat+Drink Secret Supper. Our stores on how amongst five chefs we created an experience for 12 courses paired with 12 cocktails. We served around 900 dishes! a definite magical moment. Don't miss this amazing pictures by John Robson, and fun video by filmmaker John Hunt.

Tonight magical things did happen

The Newcomers

I remember when we first arrived into Fort Collins. Back then we did not even know that at some point it would become our home. There were three months of traveling and 13 states still ahead of us. It was crazy, but out of everywhere we visited, it was Fort Collins that left a mark during our adventures…

The Dream

Throughout our travels, we had this “authentic” idea of creating these “secret dinners” where would change location and keep people from knowing about it until the very end. We wanted to create a fun experience, something different every time, and invite chefs to participate with us. What we did not think is that some else had already come up with that idea, and that it had set sail just before we even lifted the anchor. I suppose in life you had better not hesitate, and jump and learn to fly on your way down- or someone else will. We had learned a valuable lesson in our new town, but had it not been for this lesson, we might have never been exposed to the Eat+Drink Secret Suppers

At first, I did not like their version of the idea: more probably that I was pissed and bummed about it. I remember saying to Juli, “Damn it! They stole our idea!” So, I did not even look more into it. I threw the ad that was in the newspaper into the trash and we moved on with our life.

After a year had passed, Juli and I had created our own fun experience. We called it “Get Up & Get Out,” and I remember I kept hearing here and there about the “Secret Suppers” in town. As we were driving our own train, we never kept our eyes off of what was, back then, “The guys that stole our idea.” The funny part is that I did not know that it was The Coloradoan Newspaper who was behind it. It was a shock when I came to realize that. What can I say? That is what happens when you walk into a perfectly functioning city… other people who have great ideas also know how to move them!

The First Encounter

Fast forward to a chef challenge that we were invited to participate in, sponsored by The Coloradoan. In the challenge, there were two prizes: one given from the organizers, “La Familia/The Family Center”  "Peoples Choice Award" and the other from The Coloradoan, entitled, “The Critics Choice Award.” Somehow, we ended up winning “The Choice Award” and that’s how life introduced us to Jacob Laxen, who manages the Eat+Drink section of the newspaper.

Life's Ways

“Life just works in mysterious ways” was my parents’ favorite phrase. Over and over they put it into my head, and what I did not know, is that they were trying instill the concept of fate in me. Some version of it, at least. Well, in this case, my parents were not here to to say it, so life itself took their place to do the teaching. It was time for us to face “the guys who stole our idea.” It was time to be humble, take two steps back, and admire their achievement. It was time to be part of it… and we were happy to do so.

The Opportunity

However, it was not the Secret Supper organizers who approached to us to be part of this amazing New Year’s dinner- it was from someone that I would have never guessed… it was from a couple of chefs that we had competed against during that same “Chef Challenge,” John Lawyer and Jake Arnold, who are owners of the food truck “Corndoggies” and their food company, “Lickskillet,” and this is really when the adventure started.

John Hunt, Juli & I have a very spiritual way of living, and I cannot deny that it is what drives our ideas and our desire to grow personally, to find ways to have new experiences. When John Lawyer & Jake knocked on the door of our kitchen and explained the situation, we knew we had to be part of it. We saw an opportunity to help other people like us- two crazy human beings that were also out there trying their best to show the world the love they have for food and the community.

The Meeting

I have to say, that in no time, John Lawer, Jake, John Hunt, Juli & I were all meeting, having a drink (or seven) in our home, planning this ridiculous 12-course dinner, paired with 12 cocktails. Yes- it kind of escalated very fast! What happened that afternoon planning the menu would have been amazing to film. We went on for what must have been eight hours talking about food, experiences, love, and life. It was definitely “a magic moment,” as that famous song says. A moment that we will cherish our entire lives. We had all opened our souls and were speaking a language we could all feel in the core of our hearts.

Picture from John Robson

Picture from John Robson

For us, this was the first time that we had been given the opportunity to work alongside other chefs. I have to say, that the term “too many chefs in the kitchen” is as true as it sounds. But- because there is always a “but”- if you take out the ego, there is only room to have fun. We got lucky this time- because we all decided to be humble and open-minded about what we wanted to accomplish. We all decided to just have fun

Our mind and theirs work very differently, I admit… we have two approaches, two schools, two different ways to express the same love for food, the same passion to create an experience, and sharing this was new territory altogether for us. When we put together the menu for this Secret Supper, it felt like there was so much to do to figure out how to blend it together and tie one course in with the next. It was like trying to mix a band that plays old-school hip hop with one that plays Latin music. Now- imagine that the genre of music is “The Taste of Food.” Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen! Luckily for all of us, we all shared one beloved genre in common, that of Asian food, and finally, we decided that that was going to be the frequency in which we were going to communicate.

A Different Reality

Food is not all we do. There are amongst us a Respiratory Nurse Technician, a retired Professional Cyclist, a Graphic Designer and a Filmmaker. It’s crazy now that I think about it! But, the best part is that we are all nerds- and I am not going to deny it! So, when Holly Engelman from The Coloradoan asked us that they wanted to take pictures of us to use for promotion, we saw an awesome opportunity to just create a bigger impact.

We all decided to be ourselves. Some crazy outfits came out of that idea! Also, John Hunt, the Filmmaker, and I decided to do a video of the photoshoot and do something with it. John Hunt you are amazing, my friend! Check out the video below from Arcadian Pictures- you will not regret it!

Sold Out

Two weeks before the event it was sold out. Amazing! From that point on, we could not think about anything else but this event. The last few days, we all got together in our commissary kitchen (Juli y Juan’s Kitchen) and we were like five mad scientists coming up with a new chemical element!! And, yes- tequila was involved. We all poured our hearts and creative souls into it, wanted to share our vision, and create an unbelievable experience for our guests.

The Surprise

When we found out that the secret place was Block One, I had no idea what or where it was. You have to take in consideration that Juli & I are only in our second winter here. So we went to see the place, and I have to say, it was amazing! What a great spot! We met with Leah Dunn, the Property Manager from Black One, who was equally as hospitable as the venue itself. Fort Collins- if you have not been there, you must! We all walked around and you could see it in everyone’s eyes, the event unfolding in their minds as they began to wonder how this experience we were creating together would materialize. The intention was created, the dream was projected, and these ingredients are all parts of the recipe of ideas that is baked into reality.

The Day of the Event

All I can say is that it was like taking a deep breath, closing your eyes, opening your heart and jumping into a river so strong that you have no choice but to give into its desire. We had already planned as much as we could. We had already considered as many moves on the chess table as we could, and our next step was just to let go. And that’s exactly what we all did. There were so many amazing friends who came to our aid and jumped in to give us support and be part of this incredible experience. Thank you all, and if you are reading this, you know perfectly that we are talking abut you! From the cores of our hearts, thank you.

In the End

When we open our eyes after that deep breath of faith, when we decide to face our fears and expose our hearts to strangers, when we all pursue what we love to do with the best of our intentions, when we decide to flow with life and let go of our ego… things happen- magical things. And on this 31st of December, magical things did happen.

...And to my dear wife, I love You.

It all Starts Here…

The adventure continues and this time at Edwards House in Mountain Ave. We have three letters for this amazing establishment Wow!! What a treat!! We got recruited by Laura Pearson, owner of L Elizabeth Weddings and Events to make a Fun Lunch Experience for 35 guests.

Two sandwiches, specialty waters and lots of great loving service was in the simplest way, what we had been asked for. This was our first time working with Laura, and as always there is some excitement and good anxiety when teaming for the first time with an event expert. We put some calls, check out our venue, created logistics, offer menus, and we where ready to get the show on the road.

It is amazing to admire someone else art. As we arrived we just focused our attention into getting our magic deliver, but in no time, suddenly out of the blue, the space, had just transformed from this nice looking room, into a fairy tale one year old birthday paradise for family and friends. Laura and her team had done an amazing job, and we where proud to be part of this new adventure. I could keep writing more and more, but as the old saying says “A picture says more than one thousand words”… and in this case a video is also there!! =D

Laura, we can’t thank you enough for this great opportunity!, we hope that life brings us together and we can continue sharing our art with you. Our greatest admiration to you and your team on decorating the venue.

Once again, here in the gorgeous Fort Collins, Juli y Juan says to you all, “Have a One-derful Year!!! =D Until Our Next Adventure!

Get Up And Get Out II - at Happy Heart Farm

How amazing it is to see an idea grow into a tangible reality. It all started six months ago when we gave ourselves a book from one of our favorite Chefs, Francis Mallmann. The poetry of his books, our love of outdoors, good food, healthy environments, community gatherings, music, friends and arts, are some of the ingredients we wanted to combine for our next adventure.

Get Up And Get Out; A Magic Moment.

Dear Get Up And Get Out Epicureans,

How amazing it is to see an idea grow into a tangible reality. It all started six months ago when we gave ourselves a book from one of our favorite Chefs, Francis Mallmann. The poetry of his books, our love of outdoors, good food, healthy environments, community gatherings, music, friends and arts, are some of the ingredients we wanted to combine for our next adventure. That night, like a broken spring bounced the idea of Get Up And Get Out. Not long ago, this amazing moment turned into a reality at Happy Heart Farms. I have to say that in order for magic to happen, one needs to THINK of something you really want, then to FEEL it, and finally to ACT upon it. We can all make our dreams come true, and that is exactly what happened on June 17th. We remember telling our idea not once or twice, but about many times to many different friends before it was taken as a reality, we needed to feel it, and once we did we hold to that emotion…but even then the concept was a little hard to express. It is something you feel in your heart, and you follow it by every small decision you make, just let your heart free, and he will guide you…

The Crew gets together…

We decided to get a bunch of artists together and let our hearts express, and play with our ideas, and just combine our individual way we understand love. This incredible team came together… We recruit and partner with Taylor Walker Strope who just launched her amazing Event Planner Company “Mountainside Events” which I am sure you have already heard about it. Together we grab our idea and kept looking for more artists. Chris A. McShay & Tom, jumped into the train to take care of the musical ambiance, which by the way, we where amazed by their incredible talents, and magnificent personalities. We needed some charismatic people that could help be the flow of the night, and for this we thought of two beautiful girls we have had the pleasure to play along their side, so we recruit Makenzie Matz, and Estée Laturnus. What amazing and fabulous souls, always smiling, understanding the moments, and giving the occasional so-needed-hugs to keep things flowing. I am the son of a photographer and love them, but I knew that I was not going to be able to take any so we decided to invite a photographer, and who better than someone we had just met. Her name is Marialena Fronczak owner of The Enchanted Journey!! What incredible pictures!! One amazing surprise was my college best friends and a life chosen brother John E. Hunt, that decided to surprise us by flying from New York to be part of this magical moment. He is a Travel Writer and Filmmaker who launched his company Wandrlustr and is working for the MLB at this time. He also helped us put together our first crazy adventure “Share The Love Tour” and is a Sous Chef as well, so foodie by nature. We wanted to pair our food with wine, and we where looking for someone local, which we strongly believe in supporting locals… Taylor found Ten Bears Winery, who made this part happen, they have their incredible location in Laporte. We needed a place to make this magical moment happen and Happy Heart Farm came across as life was just sending us into that direction, as when we where asking about it, a few great friends point us there. Thank you Dennis and Bailey Stenson, who are the founders of this amazing local farm, and Chloe and the entire Farm Crew for giving so much love to your plants.

Finding epicureans to enjoy…

Our next step was to gather epicureans who wanted to explore this moment we wanted to create… and we did. We had 36 amazing souls who wondered into the unknown. To all of you, we hope this moment was everything you hope and expect for, and we say, thank you for believing in us. We hope we can see you, and many who could not come to this event in our next one.

“Someone told me some time back, that you need to follow your heart, and for Juli & I that is exactly what our life is all about. So as we keep growing roots in this amazing location of the world, life keep crossing our paths with incredible souls, and for this we are forever thankful.”

Juli y Juan

Chef Challenge for Children – The Family Center / La Familia

There is nothing more fun and interesting than a new adventure. Specially one that the main purpose is to make other people’s life better. For those reasons you can always count with Us. This adventure started with a call from Jennifer Lauren from The Family Center/La Familia, which is an organization that is dedicated to help parents who are in need of a daycare and can’t figure in their financial plans a place. We had no idea what where where getting ourself into, but as much as we are not about competing, the other part that we are really interested… helping. So we where sign up for the Chef Challenge for Children.

  1. CHEF CHALLENGE FOR CHILDREN 2016!!

What a great Adventure!

Chef & Venues

So the idea was that a few Chefs in Fort Collins where going to be paired with restaurants, bars and coffee places. Then each chef had to come up with a dish or two that paired with their venue… and to spark things up, the biggest sponsor was Noosa Yoghurt, and why not, we had to include it in our dish. So we got paired with The Bean Cycle Roasters, and we had to come out with something… which was our fun part.

We have never had the opportunity to paired our food with coffee before, so as great nerds that we are, we decided to go over the entire process of teaching our brains about coffee. We decided to go check the place, meet the staff and we even got a coffee pairing day… for those who drink lots of coffee and have never done this, we highly recommend it!! You learn so much, and you actually educate your palate. Thank you Leslie & Chaz for that wonderful experience!!

Then we went home and put our creativity into work!! We came out with two dishes;

1.- Brazilian Coffee Tiramisu, with lemon Noosa Yoghurt and chocolate shavings

2.- Caramelized pair Goat Cheese Spread, bacon bites, fresh Arugula & balsamic glazed on a crostini.

We had to pair this with an Cold Brew Arnold Palmer Coffee infused with ginger and apple juice.

The Day…

We woke up and it was time to pack our things and head over The Bean Cycle Roasters. They where supper kind to let us park in the back and as we walked into the building, there was already a sense of adventure! the kind that we love to have. So here we are, together with an amazing team; Derrick, Octavius, Juli Y Juan. the four of us, and with some more help obviously from The Bean Cycle Roasters.

The event went so smooth and fun and well I could keep telling you but what better than checking the pictures and the fun video!!

The Family Center/ La Familia Thank you so much for all the support and for this amazing opportunity!! This is Juli y Juan saying hasta pronto!!!

Drake’s Farmers Market Goat Tasting

This adventure has been a rather interesting one… it all started with a full goat from Homestead Ranch, to butcher at home. This was definitely something new for us. Juli has not done this kind of butchering since Culinary School, and me, I had never even thought on having to do it, unless it was for survival. But you know life presents with this interesting surprises. Full on board with a small Youtube investigation on when and how to start, the adventure had already begun… it took us about 3 to 4 hours to do the work, but we where ready. I have to say that it was not easy for me to do this, and I do not know if this is something I would like to get myself into again. But never the less an experience for sure.

Drake’s Farmers Market ‘Goat For All’ Day!!

After having all the meat, we continue to what we love, cooking it. So that afternoon we just put some good old music, and let life flow as we started painting our culinary art. A little glass of wine, and the evening just evaporated in seconds, like a good old song that traps you into its melody web and suddenly you wake up as the song is done. We had spent all day on our feet, but doing something we love, which makes a world of difference. With our feet throbbing we went to bed as the next day we had a show to put on.

It’s early and the alarm buzzes… its time to hit the shower with your eyes still closed and bumping into the walls… and hope to stay awake. We brew some coffee in a new French Press my mom gave to us the week before, when she came to visit. We pack everything in the car and it was time to “Hit The Road Jack” as the old song says…

Nan Zimmerman, owner of Drake’s Farmers Market had invited us, as she wanted to promote some of her vendors products, and that is why we where here this day. We arrived and set up our place, and we let life be, we became the brush of our art, we just let it flow like the rivers of May. That is how we love to express our love in this Culinary Life Adventures. About 200 people later we where done. Drake’s Farmers Market shut down as we put together our circus. I have to say that it was a bless to have had some friends over, it is always amazing to see the faces of your friends as they approach with a smile, and there is just so much energy at the stage that, you can not help yourself jump into a hug. Thank you guys for stopping by, it means the world to Us. At the end, we fold our last table, give a huge thanks to Nan, and her smile said it all! I have never seen her so happy… and just as that moment happens, you know you did something good here, and that is why we love to do what we do.

This is Juli y Juan saying Thank you for this cool time and adventure!! We hope you enjoy our fun little video and even better we hope to see you in our next location, wherever that is!! So be true to yourself and never forget that “Food is Medicine”.

Once we got to the house, they made us feel just like home and we jumped into our train of cooking and laughing… at the end everything was gone, we had no leftovers, everyone had smiles in their faces, and that precise moment is when you get to realize that life is good… that you did your part and the event will go to the memories…

Thank to Taylor from Mountainside Events for being there and performing awesome on the bar!!

Nusser Family, thank you so much for this amazing opportunity, and we wish you many great birthdays!! Mary we love being part of your day!! Thank you!! This is Juli y Juan saying 65 is a goooooood number to be at. =D

Kechter Farm A Residential
Real Estate Adventure

“For The Growth of New Communities!!”

What a great opportunity to do an event for such a great Real Estate Company. We love any kind a culinary adventure and this one was not an exception. A new residential development called Kechter Farms by Toll Brothers is happening here in Fort Collins and you all should go and take a peak!!

We had the opportunity to create this event In their community center, which is just amazing!!! it has a full kitchen, with a bar, all join together in one incredible design. The party was created for 60 lucky real estate agents, and I am sure a few friends… The meal we served that night was Mexican!!

I can not get tired of saying how incredible it is to have an idea and to see it become a tangible reality. We had the pleasure of meeting some great new friends, and to share our culinary arts with this great community of Fort Collins.

This is Juli y Juan touching more hearts and spreading our Art!! Until next event!!

A Mother Like No Other!! Mothers Day Event

In my experience there is something amazing about families that hold together; a great mother. This day we had the opportunity to experience once again, the love of a family for their mother, and it makes me want to throw everything and go take a plane and hug my own mom.

The Love for a Mother is Like No Other!!

“Happy Mothers Day!!”

In my experience there is something amazing about families that hold together; a great mother. This day we had the opportunity to experience once again, the love of a family for their mother, and it makes me want to throw everything and go take a plane and hug my own mom. The Lanoha family has that special ingredient that makes it so special, that special ingredient that balances so many souls together and actually share a moment and create amazing experiences. I am talking about a family that when they get together they round about 30, and I am sure that this is not counting the ones that cant make it for that day. For Juli & I, coming from big families we understand the joy and great atmosphere that this means. Marcia, you deserve every minute of everyone that was present in this great mothers day. You deserve it, for being someone to admire, to look up to, to be there with. Obviously Dave you keep her happy and for that we wont leave you out!! hahah You two are admirable.

I could keep writing but I am already missing my mom, to much and my eyes are all watery and I need to stop, and just be thankful for this great opportunity, for inviting us to cook and be part of this great memories!! We love you and hope that together we can continue to make more memorable stories in life.

This is Juli y Juan practically crying of joy as we say… We miss you Mamá!!! Until the next event, we hope you all enjoy this fabulous life with the people you love.

Have Fun With the Video!!

What an Awesome Moment!!

In the Amphitheater, Nick & Amy from PostParadiseBand where filling the ambiance with out of this world music!!, and that incredible background design, I mean, it just all came together into one huge piece of art!! The collaboration & love of many artist minds was why this event was an absolute success!!

We are forever grateful to those who made us part of this, and opened up a great opportunity and better yet, their hearts.

Catering Denver & Bringing Smiles to Those who Need It!!

CFPD Catering Denver – A Great New Journey!!

There are always new challenges in life, and they all differ from time to time. This past month we had an amazing great opportunity in our little Juli y Juan Company. Thru an amazing great friend that we have met in the Riviera Maya we got contacted with a true company. Colorado Fund for People with Disabilities or better known as CFPD, is an organization in Denver that seeks to enhance the independence and quality of life for people who are elderly or disabled and their families.  How cool is that!!!  They are into doing good!! into making a difference in our beloved Colorado and we are all into jumping all over those amazing and great opportunities.

So here we are facing new obstacles, new boundaries, new challenges. We had to hire the best crew ever to make this 175 people event work out! In our crew we had Taylor Strope Walker, Makenzie Matz, Estée, Juli & I. I decided to buy some walkie talkies and geared everyone up into one awesome team all tied up in great communication. Obviously it did not lasted long when we were all laughing and making jokes over the radios and just having a blast while we “Work” if you can call it that. Team, you guys ROCK that night and we could have never done it without you!! Can’t wait for the next event to call you and have a blast again.

We had the opportunity to meet all the CFPD team, which they are quite a few. But everyone had an amazing smile that day, and the new offices look amazing. If you have never heard about CFPD, I recommend you click on any of the links I am leaving in this blog, and honestly just indulge into what they are doing… you will not regret the time you will give them. Special thanks to Megan Brand the Executive Directorfor such an amazing job and an incredible opportunity!! We hope that everything came as you had expected!!

Well one more time here we are Juli y Juan sharing our passion and love for the Culinary Arts, so if you are out there and are looking to have some fun CALL US!!! We would love to try and help make it better!! =D
